The gorge starts at Xyloskalo (1227 m. above sea level) on the Omalos Plateau.

Lots of animals in this park.

"Big" flower.

wild goats of Crete, which the locals call “agrimia” and tourists call “kri-kri”.

The bridge leads to Halfway rest place, Samaria village whose inhabitants were relocated in 1962 when the gorge was declared a national park.

Isn't it amazing to walk in this setting?

Remaining of the old towns

How glad we were to see the 8 km marker (distance between the two park entrances is 13 km.)

Finally, the photogapher caught up with the fast paced walker, Samantha.

We need Tzy-Juan and Leo to tell us how this was formed!

3-meter gap !!!

Steven crossed one of the wooden bridges that are in the lower half of the trail.

12 km maker, one more km to go!

The reward for the 13 plus 2 km (outside the park) is here. Beautiful beautiful water.

From thousands of feet to few on seashore of Libya, Crete’s Samaria George happens to be attractive, crude & adventurous trek on land of ancient civilization of Greece. By the time of the break comes, there is a worthy visit to 14th century old chapel of Osia Maria, origin of Samaria George. Its nature offers a delight of 450 rare vegetations & wonderful wild life, which includes famous natural goats; kri-kri.
