Malmo, Sweden: on way to Oslo, Norway (12, Aug., 2008)

We took a train from Copenhagen Denmark to Malmo Sweden in the early evening. At Malmo, we would wait for a few hours for an overnight train to Oslo Norway. With a few hours, we wandered out of the train station to find food.

Samantha left her backpack in a sidewalk café. See the picture. There was no backpack! The street art, statues of a band in a parade, was an interesting display. (After came back to the US, we saw the statues in the CNN "My City, My Life, Malmo!")
Fortunately, we went back to a store near the cafe and retrieved Samantha's backpack. Since we did not have much for lunch, we had a big dinner. Believe it or not, we had Italian food.

Just look at a nearby shoe store (4200 SK is about $700), you know the living cost in Sweden!

In front of the train station. (We went back to the station to catch the 11 PM train.)

In the train, there were 6 beds in a "room," 3 levels each side. We shared this "room" with a stranger who is an American backpack traveler, makes living by teaching English in Hungary, and is going to Korea to teach after this trip. It was an interesting experience to sleep in a moving train. Mom couldn't sleep at all with all the shaking/moving, a raining storm, and train whistles. Luckily, the rest of us had good sound sleep and agreed that we should take night/sleeper trains more often to save money (hotel is so expensive)!

Mom was the last person to get off the train!
